Eagle Arthurs Seat
The Eagle Arthurs Seat is a contemporary reinstatement of the iconic Victorian tourist destination. Providing an all-assessable / all-weather gondola ride that soars through the tree canopies to the summit, revealing spectacular panoramic views of the Port Phillip Bay.
This experience is bookended by a refined architecture that seeks to respond to the State Park setting, while providing a clear destination point. Both the Lower and Upper Stations have strong rectilinear forms and a minimal material pallet.
The Lower Station consists of a Ticket Booth / Kiosk, Gondola Storage, Workshop, Gondola Loading Station and Forecourt, while the Upper Station, which is positioned 314m above sea level, consists of a 100 seat Café, Outdoor Area, Gondola Loading Station, Ticket Booth, Amenities, and Administration area.
Both buildings seek to maximise views outwardly towards the bay and inwardly to the mechanics of the gondola system, in particular the bullwheels.
