A former home for doves becomes a cozy playroom Once a sanctuary for doves, this tiny concrete cabin in northern Portugal is now a minimal "treehouse" playroom that seems to float right over the edge of a large stone wall. Reimagined by local architecture firm AZO, the hovering dwelling is actually supported by concrete pillars, around which there is now a bathroom that service the nearby pool on the property. More stone walls enclose the lower level, which gets a lovely, subtle rim of light from the gap between the cabin and the stone walls. A staircase also made of stone leads up to the new playhouse. Despite the brawny-cool concrete exteriors, the inside is surprisingly cozy with wood paneling and several view-framing windows. Consider yourself lucky, kid who gets to play here!
