Curtis House by Architect Nathaniel C. Curtis

The Curtis House was designed by architect Nathaniel C. Curtis, Jr., for his family and completed in 1963. The house is located in the Audubon neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana. When one thinks “mid century” this type of architecture typically doesn’t come to mind. I usually don’t post projects where the imagery is sort of on the poor side but this house is so unique. The steel arches that are found throughout the house are the signature design element that that makes this house stand out. Nathaniel C. Curtis was the Curtis half of Curtis & Davis and were one of New Orleans’ most important modernist firms of the mid-20th century. Not only is the house amazing but all of the furniture inside compliments the historic merit of the home.
