Compact apartment gets efficient, airy makeover in Taiwan
Bright and full of storage Originally, this compact apartment in Taipei, Taiwan, had been carved up into an inefficient two-bedroom layout that left little room for relaxation. Designer Annby Lin of local firm A Lentil Design reconfigured the space for a more effective flow?taking down walls and adding a small sleeping loft to replace the second bedroom. The result is an airy small apartment beloved by its owners and their shelf-jumping cat.
Built above the apartment?s entrance, the loft structure helps create a small entrance foyer with storage. Visitors then enter into the main living room, which has a small kitchen, two-person dining table, and door to a balcony. A couch and wall-mounted shelf occupy the space that was originally the home?s small second bedroom.
To the left of the kitchen, a pair of sliding glass doors separate the living room from the master bedroom, which features a built-in platform bed with storage beneath.
