Location: Prince George, British Columbia, Canada
The CNC Heavy Mechanical Trades Training Facility building is a re-interpretation of the local industrial typology, and the program?s heavy equipment guides its architectural expression. For example, the weathering steel façade was inspired by the repetitive steel links of heavy-duty caterpillar tracks.
In addition the project includes several sustainable innovations to support LEED Gold certification such as passive solar orientation, in-floor radiant heating, and low emitting materials such as locally sourced veneered plywood and blackened steel to promote healthy interior environments for students and instructors.
