Never sleep in a Walmart parking lot again Dreaming of open roads, picturesque scenery, and a simplified life, people around the country are ditching their mortgages for vans, campers, and the like. But while Instagram makes #VanLife seem idyllic, in reality it can be hard to find a place to park day in and day out.
To help solve this problem, a new online platform aims to connect parking hosts with people looking for land to live on. Called Parkmybnb, the website provides a way for property owners to leverage an asset they already have?land?by renting it to mobile dwellers living in tiny houses, RVs, and campers.
There are currently 70 listings across the U.S., and Parkmybnb hopes to expand quickly. Sites range from about $10 to $30 per night and you can filter for spots by the types of acceptable dwellings, property types (think farms, marinas, or forests), and amenities (some sites will have hook-ups, water, and laundry, other sites won?t). There is also an option to filter by reservation length, so people looking for a place to park for a few months could find that helpful. Listings range from a parcel on 10 acres of Redwood forest in California to a 33-foot camper site near Lincolnville, Maine.
