Burning Man 2017: Best pop-up art and architecture

It?s back It?s the last week of August, which means one thing in Nevada?s Black Rock Desert: Tens of thousands of people will descend upon it, building a city from scratch, only to leave without a trace (hopefully) a week later. The fervent activity in between is, of course, the Burning Man festival, now in its third decade.
Every Burning Man gives birth to an impressive field of pop-up art and architecture, which have taken center stage in recent photography books. This year?s will be no different. Expect dozens of shrines and installations to rise over the coming week, encircling the theme of ?Radical Ritual??and a temple with a large wooden effigy to be burned towards the end of the event. Watch this space for the latest and greatest from Black Rock City, including a 30-foot-tall, wood-and-steel phonograph performance venue and a huge tree-like wind sculpture. See even more scenes from Burning Man over on Curbed SF.
