Behold a Volkswagen camper van built from 400,000 Lego bricks
A more than worthy time suck You can?t drive this Volkswagen van, but honestly, that?s the coolest part about it. Built from 400,000 pieces of Lego, the stationary sculpture is a near-perfect replica of a Volkswagen Type 2 Kombi.
The vehicle, introduced in 1950 as one of the earliest passenger vans, is known for its retro rounded nose and pop top roof. Lego certified master model makers Rene Hoffmeister and Pascal Lenhardbuilt created the reproduction in six weeks by first building a steel-tube frame on which the panels of Lego are attached.

Revealed at the f.re.e travel and leisure fair in Munich, Germany, this week, the Lego camper was made with exacting attention to detail including a 1960s interior that features hotplates, a radio, and toothbrushes and toothpaste all built from Lego.

Beyond the plastic accoutrements, the replica is structurally impressive, too. The car, which stretches 16.4 feet long and weighs in at 1,543 pounds, includes a sliding door like the original and working lights. Now, if we could only start it up.
