Azabudai Hills By Heatherwick Studio In Tokyo, Japan
Architecture practice Heatherwick Studio has completed the Azabudai Hills development in Tokyo, Japan, which is defined by curving roofs topped with greenery. Construction has begun on an innovative redevelopment of the Toranomon-Azabudai district of Tokyo. A ground-breaking ceremony was held on August 5 2019 and the project is due to complete in March 2023. It is Heatherwick Studio?s first project in Japan to go into construction. Text description provided by the architects. Making a human district in a global city. There?s a snapshot of an alley in Tokyo, taken two decades ago. It?s unremarkable. It could be a scene from any number of residential neighbourhoods, with its familiar tangle of cables, autumn branches, telephone poles and washing strung across first-floor balconies.
