An Idea of Sustainable Housing Based on the Rainwater Collection

Yantaló Volunteer House is a project that is developed by nonprofit organization – International Organization of Yantaló Volunteers. The community house for volunteers they developed, is currently under construction and is based on a “butterfly” principle. It collects the abundant rainwater from the area and this efficient house model can be replicated in new homes of the locals. The cover can even be adapted to existing homes in the area.
The initial design consists a main block of two floors with adaptive bedroom and three smaller rooms. A second block has 3 additional bedrooms. The buildings connect in its center through a kitchen, dining room and common area on the first floor, and a meeting room, there is an outdoor living room and balcony on the second floor. The bathrooms and the kitchen are located in the center to optimize the use of the collection and storage of water between the two buildings.
