Matthew Simmonds is a talented sculptor who creates various works in marble or stone with a recognizable style. His inspiration comes from a lifelong fascination with stone buildings. Drawing on his skills as a stone carver, Simmonds’ central theme is architecture and in particular, sacred architecture. In his work, he plays with small-scale architectural spaces. The solid stone from which the sculptures are carved is open.
