alvaro siza’s new york tower tops out at 611 west 56th street
?611 west 56th street?, the first project in the united states by portuguese architect álvaro siza, has officially topped out in new york. the milestone coincides with the project?s first photography, with the building documented in its current state by joão morgado. previously featured on designboom here, the limestone-clad condominium tower will contain 80 residences across its 37 stories. contrasting the city?s glass skyscrapers, siza?s monolithic scheme culminates in a four-story crown conceived as a ?stone monument?.

part of the transformation of the far west side of manhattan, 611 west 56th street features a collection of one- to four-bedroom residences as well as expansive penthouses and duplex maisonettes featuring private terraces. furthermore, over 50% of the residences feature direct elevator entry. one-bedroom residences begin at $1.26 million USD, while full floor four-bedroom residences are priced from $11,080,000.
