Altair is the name of the tallest buildings in Colombo when it is completed. Actually it is a residential and commercial development structure which is still under construction in Colombo, Sri Lanka. There are 68 stories where 400+ luxury apartments will be included (3 and Bedroom, and Penthouses) . The ranging of them will be from 1,500 square feet (140 m2) to over 4,000 square feet (370 m2). Additionally, it is planned a Sky Garden on the 63rd floor where will be a pool, lounge and party arena. The project is designed by Moshe Safdie.
Altair as the Most Unexpected Design
The design of the two towers is amazing with the fact that one of them is leaning on the other. The leaning tower was designed using a distinctive diagrid structure with flat slabs. That gives it a structural stability without the need for internal columns. Also it allows for a permeable surface with large windows. Maximum airflow and light is allowed by this design which contributes to energy savings in heating and cooling. Providing an easy access to the balcony for an awesome view is also possible by this unexpected design.
