Alpine ski chalet and restaurant can be yours for $1.4M
We hear the French Alps are lovely this time of year With ski towns out west suffering from a snow-starved December, why not venture forth to new snowy territory" And open a restaurant to boot"
The Les Vieilles Luges?a chalet and family-run eatery in the Les Houches ski area at Chamonix Mont-Blanc?has just hit the market for $1.49 million (?1.25 million).
Located near France?s border with Switzerland and Italy, Les Vieilles Luges already contains a two-bedroom apartment in addition to its wood-paneled restaurant, but could be converted entirely into a private retreat.
In winter, the 1,830-square-foot chalet is only accessible on foot or on skis, but it?s located about 150 feet from Les Houches?s best and most popular run?Aillouds piste. So if returning from a shopping trip or a jaunt to Italy, you could (in theory) take the Les Houches Prarion gondola to the peak and ski your way home.
The location is also great for the restaurant, which is popular among weary skiers looking to warm up with a bite or a mulled wine. In the summer, hikers frequent the place. The listing agent also notes that the space has potential for a private events business and could even host guests overnight in temporary igloos.
