the seaport alleon housing project has been designed by aldric beckmann architectes in bordeaux, france. the concept behind the scheme for the ?tam tam? site is to bring to the fore the site?s former industrial heritage as a port, an integral part of the history of the city, in order to maintain its poetic spirit within an overall objective of sustainable development.

the use of height by aldric beckmann emphasises the proximity of the bay and gives the apartments remarkable panoramic views. the architectural language exploits and reinterprets the dynamic historic codes of the site. the urban form takes its place whilst paying heed to the surroundings and position, whilst leaving the heart of the site open and green.

the circulation of air and light, subdivisions, orientations and the subtle relationship between public and private space are the main principles that have guided the building of these new homes. separated into two areas by a footpath, the site?s position culminates in the new road: a ?tower? that stands out at the fifth floor, whilst the interior of the site is built on a more human scale of small houses, with ground floors that house bicycles and vehicles and the shared garden, which is visible from the footpath.
