The master plan was designed by SOM to strengthen Lagos? position as the economic hub for West Africa
SOM?s Alárò City project in Nigeria has won the Architizer A+ Popular Choice Awards in the Unbuilt Masterplan category. The winners were selected by the online voting public after a 10-day campaign garnering over 400,000 votes.

image courtesy of SOM Alárò City is a mixed-income, city-scale development across 1000ha with modern employment, including industrial and logistics locations, as well as maker spaces and is complemented by offices, homes, schools, healthcare facilities, hotels, entertainment & leisure uses, and 150 hectares (370 acres) of parks and open spaces. By focusing first on natural systems, SOM?s proposal creates a new mixed-use model sustainable community that protects and enhances the unique conditions of the site while enabling long-term resiliency for the future city.
