A Video Presentation for Shallow Foundations
A shallow foundation is a type of foundation that disperses loads of a building to the earth very adjacent to the surface. Shallow foundations consists of spread footing foundations, mat-slab foundations, slab-on-grade foundations, pad foundations, rubble trench foundations and earth bag foundations.
Shallow foundations are built on the locations where the layer of soil at shallow depth (up to 1.5 m) can provide support to bear the structural loads. The depth of shallow foundations is usually below its width. Watch the video to understand this better.
