A renovated flat uses colour, texture and materials to delineate spaces.



A renovated flat by BONBA Studio in Barcelona, Spain uses colour, texture and materials to delineate spaces in a more open, light-filled space.

The brief called for the interior renovation of an 80m2 family flat in Barcelona. The owner of the apartment wanted a radical change that would involve broader, and more intimate, space.

The starting point was a building with a structure and distribution from the mid-80s, the time when it was originally built.

Says BONBA, “The reform project involved a series of important changes that allowed expanding the central part of the home. With the rehabilitation, one of the rooms was suppressed to make it bigger and able to change the position of the kitchen, besides providing a larger size. These changes have also allowed the heart of the home to become more open space, expanding the area of the corridor and letting in more natural light.”
“The interior spaces have been dressed in an eclectic decor of warm and bright colors, transported to the whole home, combining the different environments under a harmonious style and Nordic air. To add a touch of color, doors and skirting were painted turquoise.”

“A base furniture unit 12 m long served as a link to connect the dining room, living room, while also providing a sense of openness and consistency. This furniture is complemented in the corridor area with a 3m open shelf.”
