Toledano + architects recently transformed the M Garden Duplex, a residence located in a 1970’s building in Paris, France, that had never been renovated. Spanning the first two floors, the home was completely remodeled, beginning with the layout so that it worked better for a family with three young children. It was also important to improve the air circulation and to make the home comfortable for summer and winter months. The windows were replaced with highly efficient ones that help control the sun and how the apartment is heated. When the sliding glass doors are open, the main living area extends to the private patio thereby expanding the space.

The minimalist kitchen easily hides away behind the wooden cabinet doors making it look clean and seamless. The all-black island ties into the black wall hidden behind the center cabinets.
The new, open staircase uses perforated metal sheets to form a triangular exterior that plays off a wooden closet underneath.

On the opposite side of the main living space is a massive bookshelf that not only provides storage but it hides doors that lead to a gym/home office and then the master suite. The wall of shelves offers additional privacy for the parents’ room.

Most of the furnishings and design details are warm and minimal, with wood materials, concrete and neutral colors, except for the yellow dining table, red coffee table and blue chair.
