Conceived by the designers Charlotte Taylor of Maison de Sable and Nicholas Préaud of NI.acki, “Casa Atibaia” is a modernist house project delicately suspended among the trees, defined by gentle curves and entirely enveloped by spectacular views of the jungle.
Nestled in the forest of São Paulo and imagined on the banks of the Atibia River, the residential project wants to embody an ideal of living in contact with and respectful of nature. Within this residence, the desired feeling is to harmoniously blend and mix outdoor and indoor life by creating continuous bridges between the two dimensions.

The design duo describes the project as a tribute to Brazilian modernism, directly inspired by the “Casa de Vidro”, also known as the “Glass House”, by architect Lina Bo Bardi. Following the principles of geometric modernism, the structure comprises a volume in white concrete and glass, with ramps that revolve around a central shaft. The house is slightly raised by rocks that spring out of the ground and act as natural pilings. Pre-existing rocks also extend inside, with spaces sculpted according to their shapes. A revolutionary architectural idea whose first images revealed are truly dreamlike.
