A Joyful Design for a Primary School in Peckham
The Cottrell and Vermeulen studio combined grey brick with bright yellow polycarbonate to create a distinctive identity for Bellenden Primary School in Peckham, South London.
The architects designed the primary school and nursery school as a “beacon” that illuminates the grey area in South London, to convey joy and positivity through careful colour study. “Our aim was to create a new local primary school that provides a generous learning environment both inside and out and reflects the context of Peckham,” said Richard Cottrell, co-founder of Cottrell and Vermeulen Architecture.
