1:22 Is a Collection of Playful Architectural Furniture
Salone del Mobile is always a special occasion, but this year marks the event’s 60th anniversary. In celebration, Dilmos presented 1:22, a collection of furniture with architectural details designed by Turin-based architect Monica Taverniti and curated by Federica Sala. Directed by Beatrice Pellegatia, with the shared vision of Lella Valtorta, the theme of 1:22 focuses on serial production and uniqueness. It’s inspired by the composition of spaces and architectural projects, and has the distinct feel of both influences.
Taverniti said, ?The distance between the project of a building and the project of a design object is shortened by the propensity to think of anything as an inhabited place. Furniture is, in fact, a space inhabited by life, used daily. The di?erence lies in the scale of realization.? MT1
This is where the joyful collection found the origination of its name. Professionals in the architecture industry know that the 1:20 scale works well for creating detailed work. In this case, the ironic 1:22 scale represents a deviation to show the intention of ?staying WITHIN the drawing to be able to see the world.”
The 1:22 collection is composed of seven pieces: three benches, a console, a wardrobe, a table, and a cupboard. They combine the serial nature of production with the manual personalization of every piece by Taverniti ? unique but replicable. Small masterpieces at work.
