Max Mertens installs swings "in the sky" over a busy Luxembourg street
Luxembourg artist Max Mertens has installed 450 swings above a shopping street to offer pedestrians a new experience of the place, "whilst tapping into their imagination."
Mertens installed the swings "in the sky," allowing the wind to cause the natural movement. Swings suggests an idea of play but it interprets this everyday object in a totally unfamiliar way.
He offers pedestrians something familiar, "that recalls childhood" but he places it out of reach.
