Live interview with Erwan Bouroullec for Kvadrat Shade | Virtual Design Festival | Dezeen
French designer Erwan Bouroullec speaks about Kvadrat Shade, the roller-blind solutions he designed with his brother Ronan for Kvadrat in this talk for the Danish textile brand as part of VDF.
Bouroullec will speak to Dezeen's founder and editor-in-chief Marcus Fairs about the concept behind the roller-blind solutions he and his brother designed.
Called Kvadrat Shade, the minimalist screens come in a range of different textures, tones and transparencies, whilst also offering acoustic and thermal benefits that could help to reduce the energy consumption of a building.
The Bouroullecs were commissioned to work on the visual design of the highly technical product, which was engineered by Kvadrat together with Dutch window covering specialist Coulisse and fabrication expert Verosol.
The live stream will begin with a presentation by Bouroullec in which he will introduce the designs. This will be followed by a conversation about the brothers' approach to developing the product.
Bouroullec is one of the founders of Paris-based creative practice Studio Bouroullec. The two brothers started working together in 1998 after completing their studies at École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and École Nationale Supérieure des Arts in Cergy, France.
The output of the studio spans jewellery, furniture, product design, interiors and large scale architectural installations.
